Ramanujan
- Ramanujan was born in erode in Tamil Nadu on December 22, 1887.
- From early childhood it was evident that he was
a prodigy.
- He formulated many theorems and formulae.
- Mathematical ideas began
to come in such a flood to his mind.
- Although he was excellent in mathematics
he failed twice in the first year arts examination in college.
- This
disappointed his father.
- Ramanujan needed about 2000 sheets of paper every
month to do his calculations .
- He started using scraps of paper found lying on
the streets.
- Ramanujan asked for job showing his frayed notebooks .
- But one
could understand what was written in the notebooks.
- So,his applications for job
were rejected .
- At last Francis spring , director of madras port trust gave him
a clerical job on a monthly salary of 25.
- On may 1, 1913, the university of
madras granted him a fellowship of 75 a month.
